Classic Vanilla Ice Cream

 Ingredients:

·       2 cups heavy cream

·       1 cup milk (2% or whole)

·       ¾ cup sugar

·       1/8 tsp salt (optional)

·       1 tsp vanilla (optional)

 

For larger silicone bag:

·       ½ cup ice cream salt

·       6 cups ice

 

Whisk ingredients (except ice cream salt and ice) together. Pour into smaller Tummbl silicone bag. Seal smaller silicone bag with slider and place inside larger Tummbl silicone bag. Add ½ cup ice cream salt and as ice as will comfortably fit. Seal larger silicone bag with slider and place inside fabric Tummbl bag. Close zipper on fabric bag. Place fabric bag in empty dryer and run on air dry or low heat setting for 20-30 min. Remove fabric bag from dryer. Remove small silicone bag with the ice cream. Consume immediately or place directly into freezer—no need to transfer ice cream mixture to another container. Ice cream will have good firmness in 1-2 hours.

 

Notes:

·       Ice cream mixture must be cool when it goes into the Tummbl. Some recipes suggest or require slightly heating the cream/milk to facilitate adding in other ingredients or for dissolving sugar, cocoa power, etc. This is not necessary for the basic ice cream recipe, but if the mixture is heated up it must be cooled in the refrigerator before using the Tummbl.

·       Ice cream salt is available in the grocery store on the baking aisle near other salts (cooking table salt, etc.)

·       For chocolate ice cream, add ¼ cup cocoa powder with the sugar. The amount of cocoa powder can be adjusted based on personal preference.

·       Mix-ins, such as cookies, cookie dough, brownies, chocolate chips, candy bar crumbles, fresh fruit, frozen fruit, etc., should be added immediately after the Tummbl is removed from the dryer. The ice cream will still be soft and the mix-ins can be easily mixed in.

Non-Dairy Coconut Ice Cream

 

Ingredients:

·       1 ½ cups canned full-fat coconut milk

·       ½ cup additional coconut milk (or other milk of choice)

·       1/3 cup sweetener (sugar, pure maple syrup, or other sweetener of choice)

·       1/8 tsp salt

·       1 ½ tsp pure vanilla extract

 

For larger silicone bag:

·       ½ cup ice cream salt

·       6 cups ice
